Glenpool, a southern suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma, continues to grow. In fact, Glenpool was the fastest growing city in the state of Oklahoma in 2016 according to the U.S. Census. The five-mile area centered on the heart of Glenpool grew 55% between 2000 and 2010 and is projected to grow another 10% by 2022.
Total population in the 5-mile area was 37,630 people in 2017. Growth in the larger trade area served by Glenpool is similar, with an 31% increase in population since 2000 to 55,826 residents, and an additional 7% growth projected by 2022.
Growth factors include a 199,000-square-foot Super Walmart anchoring a large mixed-use development that features retail, medical, financial, office, restaurant, and multi-family users; the Glenpool Conference Center bringing 38,000 plus visitors annually to Glenpool; a 90-room Holiday Inn Express, and a new 49,000-square-foot MedPlex and freestanding ER. The city of Glenpool owns 37 acres along Highway 75 and is aggressively seeking the right development partner for additional retail and commercial development.
A new elementary school is planned for construction in Glenpool in 2018, and the city recently completed a new multi-field tournament quality soccer complex as well.
