Glenpool’s Fire Training Program Provides City With Top Quality Protection

Fire Training PhotoThe Glenpool Fire Training Program provides high quality training and education to meet its operational objectives. The desire is to facilitate professional and personal excellence, enhance organizational effectiveness, and contribute to the current and future success of the Glenpool Fire Department and the Glenpool Community. This mission is fundamental to achieving the training goal of: “Develop and enhance a training program that emphasizes quality training for fire department personnel consistent with established levels of service, toward our fire service goal of life safety, incident stabilization, and property conservation.”

Future Direction:

  • Fire ground training will be provided at the fire training facility located at the new public safety building, examples include Firefighter I and II Training, Confined Space Rescue, High Angle Rope Rescue, Apparatus Pump Operations, Truck Company Operations, High Rise Operations, Search and Rescue Training, Etc.
  • A comprehensive Fire Officer and EMS training program will be developed and maintained; all programs will be accredited.
  • Training will be provided to members in a combination of methods using various scheduled drill times.
  • Additional health & safety programs will be developed and adopted by the department. Training for these programs will be integrated into the daily shift training schedule.

Employment

Minimum requirements for employment with the City of Glenpool Fire Department

  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 45.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driverís license.
  • Must be of good moral character and possess a positive work history.
  • Must be able to demonstrate physical fitness commensurate to the position description.
  • Must not have any felony convictions.
  • Must not have any misdemeanor convictions within the previous 5 years.
  • Must be able to pass a rigorous background check that includes, but is not limited to; criminal and employment history, military service records and medical screening.

Volunteer Fire Department

The City of Glenpool Fire Department also has an extensive Volunteer program. Volunteers must meet the following eligibility requirements:

The requirements for continuing membership of the Glenpool Volunteer Fire Department are as follows:

  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driverís license.
  • Must not have any driverís license offenses which include driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, or similar convictions or have been found guilty of any Felony crime within the last seven years and pass a background check in compliance with City of Glenpool administrative policy.
  • Must live within the Glenpool City limits or within a 5-mile radius of the fire station located at 14536 S. Elwood Avenue, Glenpool, OK.
  • Must comply with all rules and Standard Operating Guidelines (S.O.G.) of the Glenpool Fire Department.

The requirements for applying to be a new member of the Glenpool Volunteer Fire Department are as follows:

  • Complete a general application for employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma driverís license.
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Pass a background check and driverís license record check as defined above.
  • Must live within the Glenpool City limits or within a 5-mile radius of the fire station located at 114536 S. Elwood Avenue, Glenpool, OK.
  • Pass a physical agility test.
  • Conduct an oral interview with the fire department staff.

The requirements for applying to be a non-resident member of the Glenpool Volunteer Fire Department are as follows:

  • Complete a general application for employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma driverís license.
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Pass a background check and driverís license record check as defined above.
  • Must have completed and have proof of completing, at a minimum, of Fire Fighter I, Hazardous Materials Awareness, First Responder (or equivalent) training.
  • Pass a physical agility test.
  • Conduct an oral interview with the fire department staff.
